As the name suggests, the GPS can pinpoint locations on the planet, atmosphere or even low orbit. The key is a network of satellites. Each satellite broadcasts a signal much like a television satellite does. The difference is the signal is weak, but very unique. A GPS device like the one you use in a car gathers in signals from GPS Navigation the different satellites.
The signals are each important. First, they identify which satellites they are coming from. Second, the indicate their location in orbit. Third, the software in your system can determine how long it took the signal to reach the receiver. Combined, this present your GPS receiver with a point of reference.The next step is to gather information from multiple satellites. At least three are required, but more signals are often located. Each point of reference is determined. The GPS Navigation software in your receiver than virtually maps the data and is able to pinpoint where your receiver is within a certain margin of error. As more satellites have been put up and technology has improved, the margin of error has gone down to practically nothing.The global positioning satellite system was originally the purview of the military, but that has GPS 3.5 Inch Screen changed over time. As we all know from commercials on television, GPS receivers are now available for your car or person. They are now built in to many of the smart phones available and it will only be a matter of time before we will have the option, although hopefully not requirement, of having them embedded on our bodies. This would more or less eliminate people getting lost.
